"Siravyadha" (also spelled Siravedha or Siravedhana) refers to a bloodletting procedure, a type of Raktamokshana, involving puncturing veins to remove vitiated blood .
- Siravyadha involves puncturing a specific vein to allow blood to be released.
- It’s a para-surgical procedure used for blood purification by removing toxic substances.
- The specific veins to be punctured and the depth of puncture are determined by the practitioner based on the patient’s condition and the principles of Ayurveda.
- Conditions caused by vitiation of blood (Rakta) or Pitta dosha.
- Swelling, pain, and inflammation.
- Certain blood disorders.
- Diseases influenced by vitiated Pitta and Rakta.
