VASTI
Vasti is one among panchakarma therapy. It is a method of administering enemas with medicated decoctions, oil, ghee or milk through the anal, urinary or vaginal route. It is best for vata related disorders.vasti is also called ARDHA CHIKITSA. Vasti means urinary bladder.in ancient times urinary bladder of animals like buffalo etc were used as a bag to hold the enema material like decoction,oil etc.
If it is only oil or ghee adminstration,then the patient is advised to have light meals and soon after that,the enema is given, because the oil or fat can climb very high up in the gut,which is undesired.they are supposed to stay in the colon nd intestines to exhibit their actions
Decoction enema should be given on an empty stomach only.
Vasti is administered into the pakwashaya or large intestine, through anal route.vasti is given into the pakwashaya,the medicine control the morbid vata at its chief centre of operation and this helps in removing the morbid vata spread all over the body.
